July 1 – 10:00 – 5:00pm
Britannia Shipyards is an authentic representation of a once thriving community of canneries, boat yards, residences and stores. For the second consecutive year, Britannia is presenting a season of unique interactive activities, events, maritime demonstrations, tours and waterside programs from May to September for the Summer of Wooden Boats.
Britannia Shipyards National Historic Site is hosting a temporary exhibit entitled The Suitcase: Intergenerational Healing Through Traces of the Past by Lyana Patrick and Ashli Akins. This exhibit explores Lyana Patrick’s journey of coming to understand her Gramma Aloo’s life when she received a suitcase filled with her grandmother’s sewing patterns, letters, and keepsakes. The exhibit reflects Lyana’s inspiring journey of healing and reconciliation through her grandmother’s story, expressed through a series of framed collage artworks.
The Suitcase: Intergenerational Healing Through Traces of the Past will be on display in the Murakami Boatworks from June 2 – July 1, 2018.
